Provisioning the SP201-SA 2-3
SP201-SA™ Customization and Maintenance Guide
1 Make sure you have followed the hardware installation procedures
in Chapter 1, Installation, to prepare the system for operation.
2 Make sure you have established communication between the
SP201-SA and a user-supplied control console, as described in
Section 1.5, Connecting to the Control Console.
Note: After communication has been established, you will use a
command line interface to initialize the system.
3 Type show banner and press Enter to view the information for the
protocol-conversion software installed in the SP201-SA.
Note: Figure 2-1 shows a banner for ETSI ISDN–R2 signaling.
Table 2-2 describes the information in the banner.
If you need to install the protocol-conversion set, follow the
instructions in Section 8.1, Updating the SP201-SA Software.
4 The next step is to provision the system. Although you received the
SP201-SA hardware and software already configured for your basic
signaling conversion application, you may need to fine-tune the
configuration to meet your specific network and operational
requirements.
In addition to the standard configurations described in the SP201-SA
Installation Guide, there are two levels of customized configuration
for the SP201-SA, addressed in the following sections:
• Section 2.3, System Configuration. This section describes the
commands for configuring parameters whose values are
independent of the protocols used in the SP201-SA.
• Protocol Configuration. Guidelines for configuring the protocols
the SP201-SA uses are described in the following chapters:
- Chapter 3, Configuration of CAS Protocols
- Chapter 4, Configuration of ISDN Protocols
- Chapter 5, Common Non-System Configuration
- Chapter 6, Timeslot and CIC Configuration
